The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has firmly opposed the idea of the state government negotiating with the bandits who kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
He spoke during plenary, and explained that the kidnappers are holding several schoolchildren and teachers and are allegedly demanding money, weapons, vehicles, the release of some prisoners, and even concessions that could influence future laws in the state.
He asked lawmakers whether anyone, if in the governor’s position, would agree to such conditions, noting that giving in would only strengthen the criminals.
He stressed that the focus should remain on security operations aimed at rescuing the victims safely, and urged residents to stay calm and continue supporting the government and security agencies.
