BREAKING NEWS: Troops Rescue 53 Civilians, Recover Vehicles After Foiling Terrorists’ Roadblock in Borno

According to a report by Vanguard Newspaper on Friday, 26 June, 2026, Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued 53 civilians and recovered eight vehicles after dismantling a roadblock allegedly mounted by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters along the Buratai–Kamuya Road in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

The military disclosed the operation in a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Military Information Officer at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, North-East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.

According to the statement, the rescue operation was carried out on Wednesday by personnel of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector II as part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the North-East.

Goni explained that troops stationed at Dutse Kura detected suspicious activities through surveillance systems, which revealed that armed insurgents had established an illegal checkpoint along the road..CONTINUE FULL READING
