Ekiti APC: They Were Mocking Us Because They Knew That What Would Count Is Vote Purchase—Dare Bejide

Dare Bejide, the ADC governorship candidate in Ekiti State, has rejected the outcome of the recently concluded governorship election. He questioned the process that led to the declaration of the current governor as the winner.

Speaking after the election results were announced by INEC, Bejide alleged that vote buying and other irregularities affected the credibility of the election. In a video shared on the Arise News YouTube channel on Monday, June 22, 2026, he claimed that money was openly distributed to voters in several parts of the state.

According to him, political opponents mocked his party during the campaign because they believed that vote buying would determine the winner.

Bejide also alleged that security officials in some areas, including Ilawe-Ekiti, recovered large sums of money from people involved in vote trading but later returned the money. He said this raised concerns about the fairness of the election process.

He further claimed that some polling units witnessed intimidation, with influential politicians arriving with heavy security presence, making voters feel uncomfortable.

Bejide said his supporters and party agents reported several complaints that were not properly addressed. He added that his team is still collecting election results and will consult with the party leadership before deciding on the next step, including possible legal action.
