BREAKING: Bandits: They Killed 13 People, Injured Many And Carried Plenty Cows, I’m Not The Owner-Survivor

Ochalefo Godwin, a survivor of the deadly attack on Efeyi community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, has recounted how suspected gunmen killed 13 people, injured several others, and rustled a large number of cattle during the raid.

Speaking during an interview on AIT News on Thursday, 30 July, 2026, Godwin described the scale of the attack, saying the gunmen invaded the community, opened fire on residents, and made away with numerous cattle after the killings.

Recounting the incident, the survivor said, “They killed 13 people, many were injured and they carried plenty cattles. I’m not the owner of the cattle, I don’t know their number but they are very many.”

Godwin said the attack has left the community in mourning, with families grieving the loss of loved ones while others continue to receive treatment for injuries sustained during the assault. He noted that the incident has also dealt a heavy economic blow to livestock owners who lost their cattle to the attackers.

The survivor appealed for increased security in the area to prevent a recurrence of such violence. He urged relevant authorities to ensure that those responsible for the attack are identified, arrested, and prosecuted, adding that residents now live in fear following the deadly incident.
