Obama gave importance to the fact that the election remains a choice between Biden, who has dedicated his life to fighting for ordinary people, and Trump, who Obama described as self-serving. Obama pointed out Biden’s commitment to honesty and integrity in contrast to Trump’s constant lying.
“Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know,” began Obama. “But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Obama’s remarks came as Biden faced intense scrutiny from within his party following a challenging debate against Donald Trump. This debate performance led to calls from some Democrats and media figures to reconsider Biden’s candidacy. David Axelrod, a key strategist for Obama’s campaigns, suggested Biden should reflect on what he wants his legacy to be, warning that continuing could risk making Trump’s return to the presidency easier.
