Obama gave importance to the fact that the election remains a choice between Biden, who has dedicated his life to fighting for ordinary people, and Trump, who Obama described as self-serving. Obama pointed out Biden’s commitment to honesty and integrity in contrast to Trump’s constant lying.
“Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know,” began Obama. “But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Obama’s remarks came as Biden faced intense scrutiny from within his party following a challenging debate against Donald Trump. This debate performance led to calls from some Democrats and media figures to reconsider Biden’s candidacy. David Axelrod, a key strategist for Obama’s campaigns, suggested Biden should reflect on what he wants his legacy to be, warning that continuing could risk making Trump’s return to the presidency easier.
