The deputy chairman of Afenifere in Ekiti state, Bayo Idowu spoke to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Tuesday after a tour of ongoing road projects across the state. Idowu said the ongoing construction of Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki road, the first phase of ring road and township roads visited was a testament to the administration’s dedication to improving the landscape of the state through road construction. He said: “We want the public to be properly educated on the activities of the government and how the public funds are being expended, that is why we embark on the visitation to some projects being embarked on by the present administration under Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

“We commence our visitation from the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki road, which is very significant to linking Ekiti to Ilorin in Kwara state and other neighbouring states. Also, we visited the ring road from Iworoko-Are-Afao-Ado, leading to the airport. We equally visited Jimoh Aliu, Obisesan roads “These are roads very important not only to the commuters but for businessmen because road infrastructure is key to development and even the mantra of prosperity which the governor extols.
“We interacted with the contractors and they told us that the projects were well-funded and would be delivered in record time. Don’t forget that has always been the fulcrum of any project. If a project is not well funded, that means is at the threshold of abandonment.

“And we saw a departure from the past in terms of the quality and design of these roads. We saw a nexus between the governor’s mantra of prosperity and these massive road constructions.

“Going by what we saw across the areas visited in the senatorial district, we were not where we used to be in the past in terms of road in Ekiti and we commend the governor for deploying the state funds properly and judiciously.”

On the increasing inflation and hunger in the land, the group advised the governor to remain committed to his revolution in agriculture in the state, noting that the government’s investment would soon help in achieving food security.
