Dear Gov. Usman Ododo, I write to you today as a concerned citizen of Kogi State, reflecting on the state of governance and administration within your esteemed office. It has come to my attention that, since you assumed office on January 29th, 2024, the office of the Deputy Governor has been functioning with only one aide, specifically, the Deputy Chief of Staff.....CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE
Ordinarily, the Deputy Governor’s office is expected to have at least nine aides to effectively support the deputy’s functions, duties, and responsibilities. These aides are essential not only for administrative purposes but also for ensuring that the Deputy Governor can fulfill his role to the best of his ability. This is especially important in a state as diverse and dynamic as Kogi, where the effective functioning of all branches of government is critical to achieving the developmental goals that your administration has set.
Meanwhile, it is noted that the Governor’s office enjoys the services of over 1,000 aides, a number that far exceeds the norm in many states. While it is understandable that a certain number of aides is required to ensure the smooth functioning of the Governor’s office, the disparity in staffing levels between the two offices raises concerns about equity, efficiency, and the overall administrative balance within the state government.
The Deputy Governor plays a crucial role in supporting the Governor’s vision, representing the state in various capacities, and coordinating key areas of governance. To accomplish these tasks, the office must be equipped with the requisite human resources, including experienced aides who can provide strategic advice, administrative support, and effective communication with various stakeholders.
I respectfully request that you consider the immediate appointment of the necessary aides to the Deputy Governor’s office. These appointments are not just a matter of fairness; they are essential to the effectiveness of your administration and the overall governance of Kogi State. It is vital that both the Governor’s and Deputy Governor’s offices are adequately staffed to work harmoniously toward the common goals of development, good governance, and service delivery to the people of Kogi State.
I trust that, under your leadership, the state will continue to thrive and that this issue will be addressed promptly to ensure a more balanced and effective governance structure.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing the positive changes that will come from this request.
Yours Faithfully,
Hamza Mohammed,
Lagos.
