According to the report by Punch on Saturday, the first-class monarch said that the President needs more time

to address and alleviate the nation’s economic hardship.

Oba Ogunlade made the statement after a meeting with the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in Abeokuta on Saturday.

The monarch expressed confidence in the current administration, citing President Tinubu’s past achievements as Governor of Lagos State.

Oba Ogunlade urged Nigerians to wait a bit longer for President Tinubu to work on revamping the economy, assuring that things will soon get better for all.

Speaking further, he said that Nigerians will be calling for a second term for President Tinubu after witnessing his first-term achievements.

He said, “This is just one year; the economy was a mess before he took over. Let the people exercise patience. Let them wait a bit longer for the President to work more on revamping the economy. I know that before he finishes his first term, the people will be calling for a second term because of what he will have achieved.”

The monarch’s statement came as Nigerians prepare for a planned nationwide protest against economic hardship, scheduled to take place from August 1 to 10.

Many citizens have expressed frustration with the current state of the economy, and had called for a nationwide protest to draw the attention of the government to the sufferings that the masses are facing.
