A seven-year-old boy, Bright Simon, who was declared missing one month ago has been found in a church in the Tasha 1 area of Gwagwa, an Abuja suburb. The Ward Head of the area, Dauda Bala, while confirming the incident to City & Crime yesterday, said the woman was first taken to vigilantes’ office before she was handed over to the police. He said youths started pelting stones towards the vigilantes’ office before the police were invited to save the situation. In a phone conversation with our reporter, father of the boy, Simon Akawu, said one of his female neighbours who visited a nearby market was the first to raise the alarm to his wife about the discovery. He said they rushed to the church where they found the boy.

He said their son went missing after his mother gave him her mobile phone for charging on July 30. According to him, the suspect claimed that the child was handed over to her by a reverend sister in Maitama, Abuja, who claimed that the boy was an orphan and handed him over to her for upkeep. The FCT Police Command’s spokeswoman, Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
