Edo State youths across several social media platforms since the discovery of the hidden Federal Government, FG, palliative rice were discovered, have been insensifying calls for Governor Obaseki to resign as the executive governor of Edo State.

Some of the youths, mostly members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said they were disappointed in the way Obaseki denied the poor of what the FG sent as palliatives to the poor. The general consencus of the disillusioned youth is for Obaseki to leave office immediately over the rice scandal. Last week, after a truck load of the rice were attacked during the End Bad Governance Protest, the PDP came out to deny that the government of Obaseki has never recieved a grain from the FG, rather, the state government have expanded 2.2 billion Naira in the precurement of rice that have been given to religious bodies for distribution. Immediately that denial, another hidden rice by the government in a house owned by a PDP’s chieftain was discovered. Angry youths went to the house, vandalized it and carted away the rice, which were obviously part of those brought by the FG ready to be repackaged. The public outcry overwhelmed the government that has not reacted to the show of public shame, lack of accountability and transparency.

Some three days ago, the colluding conspirator, the commissioner of Information and Orientation, Chris Nehikare stammered shamefully to owned on ChannelsTV that they actually recieved the said palliatives. This is the same man that told the Edo State people that 5 billion was used to buy diesel for just 3 months for transporting the people within the state in badly managed buses.

“Obaseki is a standard bearer of bad governance in Nigeria,” Isi said. “For political reasons, he has never told us the FG has ever brought such palliatives to Edo State. He even allowed our party, PDP, to deny it. To my greatess surprice, the rice were discovered in the heart of the city. How do you explain that? Obaseki should show courage in this trying period of his; he should honourably resign and allow his deputy to run the last days in office. He is a bad image for the PDP and I fear what his presence will do to the party in this election. How many will want to vote for a candidate known for being close to him on the basis of this shame?”

Thousands of other youths, from their social media pages and handles have in the past week intensified their calls for Obaseki to resign from office or face their wrath in the September 21st election where his lackey, Asue Ighodalo is running under PDP.
