President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed the Federal Executive Council meeting originally set for today, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in honor of Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away on Tuesday night. The meeting’s new date will be announced later.

General Lagbaja served as the Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, until his untimely death on November 5, 2024. To pay tribute to the departed general, President Tinubu has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff nationwide for seven days.

Earlier, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the Lagbaja family and the Nigerian Armed Forces, mourning the loss of the renowned general.

This postponement marks a significant change in the President’s schedule, as he was set to preside over the FEC meeting today. The meeting was highly anticipated, especially after the President signed the 2024 Appropriation Bill into law earlier this year.
