The 2020 protests, initially calling for the dissolution of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), resulted in severe damage to public infrastructure such as a Bus Rapid Transit terminal, along with reported loss of lives.

With new protests scheduled from August 1 to August 10, 2024, under the banner “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” aimed at highlighting citizen hardships to the Federal Government, Salu-Hundeyin emphasized the right to peaceful protest. However, she stressed the importance of maintaining peace in Lagos, highlighting ongoing government efforts and urging against actions that could jeopardize progress and stability.
