Speaking to news reporters right after the verdict, Hon. Ogbonna hailed the Supreme Court’s fairness and diligence in rejecting the cases that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) had filed against Governor Uzodimma. He stressed that the decision upholds the re-election of Governor Uzodimma as well as the faith that Imo people have in the current administration.

“This judgment is a welcome development for all well-meaning citizens of Imo State. It reaffirms the mandate given to Governor Uzodimma by the people and strengthens the foundation of the progress we are witnessing under his administration,” Ogbonna stated.

He further called on opposition parties to set aside their differences and rally behind the governor to ensure the continued development and prosperity of Imo State. “We ourselves have put the election behind us. We now call on the opposition parties to also do so and focus on moving our state forward. We must work together in the spirit of unity and cooperation to achieve the common goal of a better Imo for all, particularly consolidating the delivery of the shared prosperity agenda to every doorstep in Imo state,” Ogbonna urged.

Hon. Ogbonna made these statements in response to the Supreme Court’s decision few days ago when it dismissed the lawsuits brought by the Action People’s Movement (APM) and the Accord Party, as well as yesterday’s dismissal of the LP and PDP’s cases. The court’s rulings have essentially put an end to the legal issues surrounding Governor Uzodimma’s reelection, enabling his administration to move forward with improving Imo State’s welfare state without being hampered by new issues.
