A 29-year old single lady, Ajisola Oluwatobi, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling a man, Olofijana Emmanuel, to the tune of the sum of N6.3m under the false pretence of being pregnant and being delivered of twins, which turned out to be a scam.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE....CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at No. 17, Kayode Oduba Drive, Thomas Estate, Ajah area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect took advantage of the victim, Emmanuel, who was in need of a child. She informed him that she was pregnant for him and to prove to him that she was actually pregnant, she reportedly induced her stomach by enlarging it and Emmanuel believed her.
She started extorting money from him and later informed Emmanuel that she had been delivered of set of twins and used the trick to extort more money from him. He later discovered that she was not pregnant and was not delivered of any baby talkless of twins.
Angered by her action, Emmanuel reported the alleged fraud to the Police at Gender Section of the Lagos State Command and she was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation.
After interrogation, the Police found her culpable for fraud and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
Part of the charges read:
That you. Ajisola Oluwatobi ‘f, in the month of August 2023 to July 2024 at No. 17, Kayode Oduba Drive, Thomas Estate, Ajah – Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defraud one Olofinjana Emmanuel ‘m’ the tune of N6 300,000.00 (Six Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 314(1)(2) of the Criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015″.
COUNT II: That you. Ajisola Oluwatobi ‘f, on the same date, time and place. in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did trick one Olofinjana Emmanuel ‘m the tune of N6,300,000.00 (Six Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 323(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT III: That you, Ajisola Oluwatobi ‘f on the 9th day of July, 2024, at the above mentioned address, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by deceiving one, lofinjana Emmanuel ‘m’ by telling him that you have put to birth twins for him knowing fully well it is false and thereby committed an offence punishable ler Section 168 (f) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted her bail with conditions and ordered her remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned for mention.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE
