The enthralled residents thronged his home in the aftermath of the flag-off of 10.9 kilometre Idanre-Obajare road, by Governor Aiyedatiwa, under the Ondo Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project.

Idanre and its surrounding communities are reputed to be the largest growers of cocoa crop nationwide, but are constrained by lack of enough access roads to the farmlands.

Addressing the Idanre residents, however, Akinwalere said Aiyedatiwa was poised to bring a new lease of life to the grassroots in Ondo State.

“The award of Idanre-Obajare road project is just a tip of the iceberg from Mr. Governor, as he has greater plans for cocoa farmers in Idanre and other neighbouring cocoa-growing communities and wants the farmers to yield bumper harvest and become wealthy.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa has also set aside over N2 billion as soft loans to peasant farmers, artisans, petty traders, and young entrepreneurs, to enable them reap the fruit of their labour,” Akinwalere said.

He, however, debunked insinuation that the opposition was gaining ground in Idanre, saying, “no rational people will let go of a Governor who is passionate about their welfare and who within eight months in office has touched their lives in diverse ways”.

He particularly commended the governor ‘s initiative at providing pipe-borne water to Idanre and the entire Central Senatorial District, noting that the project is in the pipeline.

Akinwalere, meanwhile, applauded the people of Idanre for being law-abiding, peaceful and hardworking, urging that they should not allow political differences to break the bond of unity that they had sustained since the period of their forbears.

He also expressed the conviction that the coming governorship election would be more of a walk-over, going by the numerous achievements of Governor Aiyedatiwa in less than one year in office.
