People pleaded with him to intervene and bring Rivers State to a truce. According to Okocha, the president paid attention and set up a meeting for the interested parties. Okocha stated that more than 200 people attended the meeting, and he was present.

He said that in addition to Governor Fubara, other people present were former governor Odili, and former governor Wike, who is currently a minister.

He disclosed that the president spoke with Rivers people in his capacity as a father. According to Okocha, President Tinubu took his time and gave them heartfelt advice.

Quoting him, “After the president’s advice, he brought eight resolutions. The first was, Assembly to drop whatever proceedings that you have initiated to impeach the governor; second, all matters in court be withdrawn.””Resolution included governor; you were wrong to have presented a budget to four members; go now and withdraw the budget and represent it to the full assembly under the leadership of Martin Amaewhule.”

“Don’t interfere with their legislative business. Conduct a local government election. I don’t want to hear any other nomenclature in the local government other than democratically elected chairmen.”
