Dalung who joined the protesters on Friday at the old airport roundabout in Jos also urged them not to be violent but to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and make their demands without molestation or vandalisation of public property.
“As one of the oldest comrades, I cannot allow young people who have grievances with poverty, hunger, insecurity, and I will pretend,” he said.
“I will provide the leadership so that we can have a peaceful demonstration. The main purpose of this protest is to tell the President to reverse some of his economic policies that have brought untold hardship to the people.
“And I appeal to the people of Plateau to conduct themselves peacefully because some of our own challenges are peculiar. I thank them for demonstrating love. When it was time to pray, the Moslems were given water to perform ablution and they said their prayers while we give them protection.”
