According to the report by Arise News on Friday, the judge and her four children were taken from their Mahuta residence on June 23.

Tragically, one of her sons, a 14-year-old boy, was killed by the bandits on Tuesday after the family failed to meet their initial ransom demand of N298 million within the stipulated time.

The bandits later reduced the ransom to N150 million, and on Wednesday night, they released Janet Gimba, instructing her to raise the funds for the release of her remaining children.

According to the media reports, the judge’s husband, Dr. Musa Gimba, a medical doctor, was away on duty at the hospital when the bandits struck.

The remains of their slain son were recovered and deposited in the hospital.

In a recent telephone interview, Janet Gimba expressed her gratitude for her own release but pleaded for the safe return of her children.

She narrated her harrowing experience in the hands of the bandits, and also appealed to them to release her children unharmed.

She said, “ Initially they demanded for N298 million, but they have reduced it to N150 million, and they released me to go and bring the money before my children are released.”
