Moments after gunshots were fired at the Pennsylvania rally, Trump could be heard telling the Secret Service, “Let me get my shoes,” before he was whisked off the stage to safety.

Giuliani, who has known the former president for decades and served as his special assistant, said he knew what the president was thinking.

“For him to ask Secret Service to wait to get his shoes, I know he was thinking, ‘I want to show American people I can walk it off,’” Giuliani told The U.S. Sun.

“I think he’s a very resilient person. I think he wants to show the evil forces out there that he can persevere through something like this.”

Donald Trump Rally Security

Donald Trump was reportedly shot at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday, July 13.

Trump’s rally was held at the Butler Farm Grounds, which can hold tens of thousands of people.

There were 8-10 metal detectors at the grounds, according to Former USUN Ambassador Kip Tom.

Tom told CNN that anyone within a certain distance of the president was required to enter through those metal detectors.

Despite being held at an open fairground, the rally was fenced-in, meaning a perimeter was set up.

Counter snipers from the Secret Service were stationed in the area to monitor the perimeter.

In addition to metal detectors for the public, plus local and state police, the Secret Service is assigned to protect the president.

Secret Service agents immediately jumped to cover Trump after he appeared to be shot.

“We have practiced for these situations thousands of times,” Jonathan Wackrow, former agent, told CNN.

CNN also reported that the Secret Service shot and killed the reported shooter.

The FBI assumed the larger investigation of the shooting, working in tandem with the Secret Service.

In addition to “beefed up” security for Trump and his family, Giuliani urged the Secret Service to offer increased security for another presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Kennedy Jr., whose father was shot and killed, was denied protection from the Secret Service last year, The Hill reported.

“I think RFK Jr., as a presidential candidate, security needs to increase…I think its unacceptable that he didn’t have Secret Service up until this point,” Giuliani said.

“Let’s put politics aside and make sure we find the answers to this so we have solutions for all of our political candidates and presidential candidates that the Secret Service is protecting.”

The former candidate for governor of New York condemned any act of violence, saying it is not the answer to anything.

“I will never, ever promote violence. Violence is not the answer to this, I promise you that.”

Trump’s former special assistant said the presidential candidate is “doing well” and that he spoke with him and his family earlier on Sunday.

Trump insisted on traveling to Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention less than 24 hours after the attempted assassination.

“I know he’s itching to get on the ground,” Giuliani said.

“He has a big announcement to make in the next couple of days,” he added, referencing Trump’s expected VP pick announcement.

After Trump dove behind the podium but before he was whisked off stage by Secret Service at the rally, he shouted “fight!” several times.

Giuliani believed that Trump’s message and him pausing to grab his shoes was a signal to Americans.

“When Donald Trump got up and told the Secret Service to wait and to fight, I think what he was telling the American people, ‘I may have been shot but I’m going to get back up, I’m going to be strong and we are going to fight for our constitutional republic on November 5,’” he said.

“That’s what we’re going to do; we’re going to fight at the ballot box because that’s what we believe in.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE
