The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has failed to present its investigation into the death of a self-styled British-Nigerian alleged serial kidnapper, Andrew Ochekwo almost two months after it set up an investigation panel.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE....CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE

Ochekwo was alleged to have special interest in kidnapping young girls for ritual purposes by luring them with his flamboyant lifestyle and offering huge sums of money.

Ochekwo, before his reported demise was arrested and detained by the Aba Anti-Kidnapping Unit of Abia Police Command of the police over the disappearance of two women who had visited him about 78 days ago, on a N1m weekend offer.

However, the Abia Police Command was accused of approaching the case with kid gloves, prompting the police leadership to deploy the Force Intelligence Intelligence Response Team (IGR-IRT) to the state.

The team was expected to transport the suspect to Abuja by road, but things turned bloody as Ochekwo was allegedly killed and his corpse deposited in a morgue in Benue State.

The mystery behind his death and the long disappearance of the women: Nigerian Celine Ndudim and Ghanian Afiba Tandoh, informed why the police constituted an independent panel.

The panel was expected to ‘complete its investigation and present a comprehensive report in two weeks’, a statement authorised by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun on June 10, said.

Since then, there has been no update, and the report has not been submitted leaving the families of both Ochekwo and the two young girls in limbo.

Also, no information on the actual number of victims who fell into the trap of Ochekwo whose lifestyle on social media was an attraction.

Part of the puzzles that the investigation panel was expected to unravel was the complicity of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Aba, Abia State in the alleged handling of the case where it was first reported and the involvement of the Force IGR-IRT in the mysterious death of the suspect.

The panel was also expected to investigate the anonymous confessions by women who had allegedly fallen victim to the suspect’s tactics of swaying women with his flamboyant lifestyle only to allegedly rape and kill them.

Also, it was expected that allegations of the late suspect’s involvement in organ harvesting and the organisations he was alleged to have worked for would have been unravelled.

However, all that is stalled. Attempts to know if the panel sat at all was unsuccessful. Police sources claimed not to be aware of the panel and none told THE WHISTLER of any investigation regarding that.

On July 10, precisely a month after the police issued the statement, THE WHISTLER contacted the spokesperson of the police, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi about the matter via a WhatsApp message, but no response.

Again, THE WHISTLER sent a reminder via a text message, but there was also no response from Adejobi, who is ever present on X/Twitter.

On July 13, another reminder was sent via text and WhatsApp messages, to which Muyiwa replied saying, “We are still investigating.”

Meanwhile, THE WHISTLER reached out to an activist, Harrison Gwamnishu who was reckoned to have exposed the matter, he said, “I have no idea.”

Checks on Gwamnishu’s Instagram page showed an update on the matter. He posted that, “I have been reliably informed that the IGP Monitoring team set up by the Inspector General of Police to investigate the infraction of the police team that extracted Andrew Ochekwo has submitted their report to the Inspector General of Police.

“They also investigated the Abia State Police Command that first handled the case. Let’s hope the @nigeriapoliceforce releases the report. Celine and Afiba’s family deserves to know what went wrong.”>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE
