In response, the church, through a statement signed by its media representative, Sophia Iloyd, labeled the allegations as false and misleading. The statement emphasized that the church operates under the protections of Sections 38 and 39 of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantee freedom of religion and expression. It clarified that spiritual items used by the ministry are expressions of religious faith and have never been sold as consumables under NAFDAC’s oversight.
“We have never deceived the public or used NAFDAC’s name to do so,” the church stated, denying the accusations.
The statement also mentioned a pending petition by one Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkblackman, who has taken legal action against the ministry. The church acknowledged receiving a letter from NAFDAC dated August 27, 2024, which invited Fufeyin for an inquiry into the use of miracle and healing items.
However, the church claimed it was given less than 12 hours to respond and had already communicated with NAFDAC.
Additionally, the church accused Otse of forging receipts to support his claims and mentioned that the matter is currently under police investigation. Despite their correspondence, the church alleged that NAFDAC has yet to respond.
