As a former forward with a wealth of coaching experience, Andersson sees the Super Eagles as a team brimming with promise. He is eager to leverage his experience and vision to help them achieve new heights in international football.
“It’s a huge footballing nation. I can confirm that I have had a dialogue with the Nigeria Football Federation,” Andersson told the Swedish newspaper Expressen, as quoted by Naija Football.
He added, “It’s a huge footballing nation, so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team coach. Dialogue is ongoing, and I don’t really want to say more than that. I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways. So we’ll see what happens in the future.”
Despite Andersson’s interest, the Nigeria Football Federation has yet to make an official statement on who will lead the Super Eagles as they prepare for crucial matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda in September.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that a new coach will be announced soon, with Augustine Eguavoen being heavily linked to temporarily lead the team in their upcoming clashes.
