Recall that the Super Eagles B team faced their long-time rivals in the first leg of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier, held in Accra on Sunday and managed to secure a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Ogunmodede acknowledged the significance of this outcome, stating that achieving qualification for the prestigious biennial tournament would greatly benefit the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
He expressed his satisfaction with the draw, emphasizing the importance of the team’s efforts in the match.
“I am satisfied with the draw,” he remarked after the game. “Now it is our responsibility to focus on qualifying for the CHAN.”
He continued by highlighting that securing a place in the tournament would not only enhance the league’s reputation but would also offer invaluable opportunities for players and Indigenous coaches, elevating the overall standard of Nigerian football.
The second leg of the qualifier is set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, December 28.
The winner of the two-legged tie will earn a spot in the delayed 2024 CHAN, which is scheduled to occur in February across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
