Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, son of former Governor and current Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has been nominated by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo to serve as the Commissioner for Health. This announcement comes just hours after Okpebholo’s inauguration, which included several other significant appointments.
Among the newly appointed officials are Musa Ikhilor, a lawyer with over 11 years of experience in legislative governance, who will assume the role of Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and Dr. Samson Osagie, who has been nominated as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
Dr. Osagie brings a wealth of experience, currently serving as the Vice President of the African Bar Association for the West African Region. He has previously been a two-term member of the Edo State House of Assembly and has also held the position of Minority Whip in the House of Representatives.
The nominations of both Dr. Osagie and Dr. Oshiomhole are pending confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly
Cyril Oshiomhole’s educational journey began at St. Anne’s Primary School, followed by Command Secondary School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later pursued a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) with a concentration in Environmental Health, Toxicology, and Disaster Management at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Additionally, he completed postgraduate training in Clinical Research at Harvard University and studied Gastroenterology at Queen Mary University in London.
The nominations of both Dr. Osagie and Dr. Oshiomhole are pending confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
