EXCLUSIVE: Residents foil armed robbery, abduction attempt in Lagos

According to PUNCH Online, four armed men, brandishing guns and cutlasses, robbed a pharmacy on Ogundele Street and attempted to abduct the store owner in his car.

James Alade, a resident who witnessed the incident, told the Punch that the attackers arrived on motorcycles around 10 pm and targeted Navo Pharmacy.

“The gunmen dragged the owner, Samuel Oshanugor, from the shop into his car parked outside, but the tyres got stuck in a bad portion of the road when they tried driving it away,’’ Alade recounted.

The pharmacy manager, Lawrence Olawale, who had just closed up, was alerted to the robbery and rushed back to the scene.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE

“I ran towards the store and raised the alarm alongside other residents. Despite the suspects being armed, the youths in the area managed to rescue my boss,’ Olawale confirmed.

Olawale described the moments, ‘’When the Acura car got stuck, people aware of the situation gathered. Though they couldn’t approach the armed men directly, they began throwing stones and bottles at them. Three of the attackers eventually fled, but the fourth, who was monitoring the area, was overpowered by the residents.’’

The incident lasted approximately 15 minutes.

The captured suspect, beaten by the angry youths, was handed over to police officers who arrived later.

While the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, was unreachable for comments, video footage showed police taking the suspect away.

Ofem Bassey, the Abbatoir Police Station Officer, explained that although he was off duty, he coordinated a response.
