What Are The Dangers Of Smoking Marijuana?

1. It can harm the heart – according to research, marijuana makes the heart work harder. The normal heart beats about 50-70 times a minute but this numbers can jump to 70-120 beats or more per minute for three hours after the effect of marijuana kicks in. The added strain on the heart plus many other chemicals in the substance can raise risk or heart attack or a stroke and the dangers tends to increase, the older you are.

2. Your lungs may hurt – marijuana can lead to inflammation of the lungs and if you use it regularly, you may have same breathing problems as someone who regularly smokes cigarettes. Your lungs may also easily pick up infections which is partly due to the fact that THC seems to weaken some people’s immunity.

3. It can cause damage to the brain – marijuana can make it harder for you to focus and remember things but this effect often lasts for 24 hours or longer after you’ve stopped smoking but using it regularly in your teen years can make some of these changes permanent.
