The Federal College of Education Yola held its 15th Convocation Ceremony, marking a significant milestone after a 15-year hiatus. The two-day event, which began on November 1, featured public lectures, an award ceremony honoring distinguished personalities, and a book launch in memory of Late Prof. Gidado Tahir, former Provost of the College.

Prominent dignitaries attended, including APC National Vice Chairman, Comrade Dr. Mustapha Salihu, represented by Dr. Raymond Chidama, State Secretary of the Party. The occasion also saw the posthumous award of honor to renowned educationist and politician Alhaji Ahmadu Ribadu, father of National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

Established in 1974 as a middle-level teacher training institution, the college initially began as the Federal Advanced Teachers’ College (FATC), Yola. It started academic activities in 1975 with 150 students under the leadership of pioneer Principal Mr. C. Pollock.

The college offers various programs, including Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), Pre-NCE programs, and degree programs in affiliation with the University of Maiduguri and Jos.

The college comprises several schools and departments, including School of Sciences, School of Languages, School of General Education, School of Art & Social Sciences, School of Vocational Education, School for Adult, Non-Formal and Special Education, and School of Early Childhood Care and Primary Education.

The occasion also saw the posthumous award of honor to renowned educationist and politician Alhaji Ahmadu Ribadu, father of National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu

Eminent academicians delivered speeches during the ceremony, highlighting the importance of education and the role of the college in shaping the future of Nigeria.
