Represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, President Tinubu expressed disappointment over the presence of ghost workers within the system. He highlighted revelations from the Head of the Civil Service regarding employees relocating abroad while still receiving salaries without formally resigning.
“It is encouraging that steps have been taken to address this issue, but we must ensure accountability and restitution,” Tinubu emphasized. He reiterated the government’s commitment to punishing those involved and recovering the misused funds for the national treasury.
Additionally, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges facing the civil service and affirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing the welfare and development of civil servants to optimize national growth.
