Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday, presented a certificate of recognition to Asari Dokubo, Niger Delta activist, formally establishing him as the Amayanabo of Torusarama-Piri Elem Kalabari.
The presentation took place during the quarterly general meeting of traditional rulers held in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Governor Fubara lauded the contributions of traditional institutions to the peace and development of Rivers State.
He described the recognition of Dokubo and three other monarchs as a commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering unity in their respective communities.
Alongside Dokubo, three other monarchs received certificates of recognition from the governor.
They include:
– Winston Odiye Alamina as Oputibeya XII, Amayanabo of the Koniju Kingdom;
– Eze Noble Friday Uwoh as Eze Igbu-Ehuda IV; and
– Ike Ehie as Eze Igbu Orlukwor.
Governor Fubara congratulated the newly recognized monarchs and urged them to use their positions to advocate for peace, development, and harmony within their domains.
In a post on X, Fubara said, “we reaffirmed our commitment to tirelessly work for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Rivers state”.
“I urged these esteemed leaders to use their positions to foster unity, promote peace, and strengthen harmony within their respective domains,” he wrote.
