The assassination attempt against presumptive Republic Presidential candidate Donald J. Trump in Butler, PA is an abhorrent demonstration of the ongoing patterns of polarization which we believe are likely to bring about recurrent patterns of violence, which some are already referring to as the Second American Civil War, to the United States over the next years or decades.
Based on the events that occurred today, combined with the frailty being demonstrated by incumbent President Joe Biden, it is almost certain that Donald J. Trump will win the presidency in November. Looking at the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
Reagan was shot and seriously injured but displayed remarkable fortitude by waving to cameras as he entered the hospital. His approval ratings surged following the incident, jumping from 51% to 73% within a month.
