The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has sworn in the six newly appointed judges into the State’s High Court.

Governor Eno said the appointment was in his determination to ensure that Akwa Ibom remains safe and secure for its citizens.

The judges, Umohandi Winifred, Ekanem James, Essien Iwakowo, Morrison Henry, Ntekim Ekpo and Eddie Julius, were sworn in on Monday.

Pastor Eno said the addition of judges would help in speedy criminal trials and punishment meted out according to the law of the land.

The Akwa Ibom Governor noted that he was committed to serving the people and respecting the rule of law.

In our determination to ensure that Akwa Ibom State remains safe and secure for its citizens and visitors alike, I was delighted to swear in six newly appointed High Court judges as the National Judicial Council recommended.

“With this addition to our judicial system, we are expected to have speedy criminal trials, and punishment meted out according to the law of the land. Our mandate is to serve the people and ensure that the rule of law is respected and society is free from all criminal elements, and we will continue to do so.

I congratulate our brand-new judges on this elevation, which is a testimony of their professional competence and sound judicial antecedents. I hope they will bring their experiences to bear and further impact our judicial system for good,” he wrote on his X handle
