The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has officially approved the appointment of 160 individuals to the positions of Supervisory Councilors and Special Assistants across all 33 Local Government areas within the state.

The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, announced this in Ibadan, the state capital.

The appointed individuals include 93 Supervisory Councilors and 67 Special Assistants, with representation for Persons Living With Disabilities.

Ojo emphasized that this initiative is in line with the governor’s commitment to ensuring that every segment of society is represented in the current administration’s decision-making processes.

Ojo said, “The new appointees were selected based on merit, competence, and their capacity to contribute to the Makinde administration’s agenda of sustainable development, especially at the grassroots.

“The appointments aim to strengthen the governance framework at the Local Government level to ensure effective service delivery to the people of the state.

“This administration is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their physical abilities or background, is represented in governance, and this is so because the present administration believes in the talents and potential of all individuals, including persons living with disabilities.”

The commissioner emphasized the importance of the newly appointed officials focusing on the well-being of their local communities and urged them to collaborate effectively with local stakeholders to tackle urgent challenges and implement meaningful projects.
