The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has signed the state’s ₦750 billion 2025 budget into law.
Naija News reported that the state’s House of Assembly passed the budget bill on Friday afternoon during plenary.
At the signing event on the evening of Friday. Governor Otti assured his administration’s commitment to ensure effective implementation of the budget.
For the 2025 fiscal year, ₦611.7 billion, or 82% of the total budget, was allocated to capital projects.
₦138.6 billion, or 18% of the budget, was dedicated to recurrent expenditures, covering personnel costs, social benefits, overheads, and debt servicing
He said the budget title ‘Budget of Sustained Momentum’ carefully considered significant economic challenges such as inflation and exchange rate volatility, which have significantly impacted his administration’s fiscal strategies.
Governor Otti commended the state’s House for the speedy passage of the budget and support to the administration’s policies.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Abia State House of Assembly for their swift and thorough review of the Appropriation Bill.
“This budget, with 82% allocated to capital expenditures, underscores our unwavering commitment to long-lasting infrastructure projects.
In 2025, significant progress will be made on projects initiated in 2023, including the Port Harcourt Road in Aba and the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abriba-Ohafia road, among other key initiatives.
“Together, we are dedicated to transforming Abia State and ensuring its continuous growth and development,” Otti stated.
