Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has stated that the recent cabinet reshuffle, which affected the office of the Chief of Staff, Secretary to the State Government, and five commissioners, was made in the state’s best interest.

Naija News reports that Yusuf addressed concerns about the cabinet reshuffle during a press briefing at Government House following the state executive council meeting.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the governor debunked the misrepresentation of his actions, insisting that the reshuffle was a well-intentioned decision to improve the state’s governance and had no political motivations.

He further reassured those affected by the reshuffle that they were not dismissed permanently and would be offered new roles.

Yusuf stated that the new cabinet members would bring fresh ideas to accelerate the state’s social and infrastructural development, adding that the new commissioners would join the next executive council meeting, where their respective portfolios would be revealed.

He said, “In recent times, we made some decisions, including the cabinet reshuffle. As a result, some individuals lost their positions, while others were reassigned to different roles. I want to remind the public that this decision was made in the best interest of the people of Kano.

“We have promised to deliver dividends of democracy to our people, and we are already running short of time. To speed up progress, we had to make these changes. We believe these adjustments will improve the system.

“Let me also say that we have not dropped those affected for life. We have other jobs for them, so I want everybody to accept the decision as it is. Those reassigned should bring their previous experiences to bear in their new roles.”
