Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State shared a peculiar experience he had just before being announced the winner of the September 21 governorship election, describing how he found a dead bat on his bed.

During a thanksgiving service following his swearing-in, held Wednesday night at the Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Okpebholo expressed his belief that divine guidance played a crucial role in his victory.

Looking back to the moment after the election, Okpebholo recounted how he found the lifeless bat on his bed the following Sunday morning, claiming it was a sign of divine intervention. “I didn’t have to lift a finger. The spirit of God was present. It was God’s hand that delivered me,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the spiritual leaders who supported him and to those who trust in God’s power. He urged others to rely on God, assuring them that He can make the impossible possible.

Throughout his campaign, Okpebholo clarified that he did not seek assistance from any native doctors, prophets, or shrines. The thanksgiving service was attended by notable politicians, musicians, and clergy.
