The International Police (INTERPOL) has issued a wanted list featuring 14 individuals from Nigeria who are alleged to be involved in a range of serious crimes, including human trafficking, drug-related offences, robbery, fraud, and deception.
As detailed in the Red Notices published on INTERPOL’s official website on Tuesday, these individuals are being pursued by law enforcement agencies in various countries for offences purportedly committed within their respective jurisdictions.
The list includes names such as Felix Omoregie, Jessica Edosomwan, Jude Uzoma, Uche Egbue, Chinedu Ezeunara, Benedict Okoro, Ikechukwu Obidiozor, and Alachi Stanley.
Additionally, Mary Eze, Timloh Nkem, Austine Costa, Okromi Festus, Akachi Vitus, and Bouhari Salif are also among those sought by authorities.
Notably, Omoregie is wanted by Belgian law enforcement for allegedly leading a criminal organization that exploits children for prostitution, as indicated in the notice.
According to the information provided by the requesting entity, the charges were: “Human trafficking for prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation; sexual exploitation or exploitation of prostitution of another person/Leader of a criminal organisation; Family name: Omoregie, Forename: Felix, Gender: male, date of birth: 22/10/1977 (47 years old), nationality: Nigeria.”
The French authorities are pursuing Edosomwan for “trafficking in human beings involving multiple victims,” as indicated in the notice regarding her organized competition among gangs to conceal or launder proceeds from criminal activities.
The report further reveals that the Venezuelan government is seeking Ezeunara on charges of suspected drug trafficking, while the Uruguayan government is also pursuing Ezeunara for similar allegations. Additionally, the Nicaraguan government is looking for Okoro in connection with suspected organized crime, and the Argentinean authorities are seeking Egbue for alleged drug trafficking.
Further investigations on the INTERPOL website revealed that the Angolan government wants Obidiozor, Vitus, and Stanley for suspected “kidnapping, robbery, and illegal possession of firearms.”
In other INTERPOL alerts, it was noted that Canada is seeking Nkem for alleged “sexual assault and failure to comply with a condition of recognition,” China is pursuing Salif for alleged “drug smuggling,” and Denmark is looking for Eze for purported “trafficking in human beings.”
According to the published notices, Costa is wanted by India for “criminal conspiracy; possession of a forged document with the intent to use it as genuine; forgery of valuable securities, wills, etc.; and forgery for the purpose of deception, while Okromi is sought for “criminal conspiracy and cheating.”
However, INTERPOL pointed out that the notifications were intended to inform the public about potential dangers and ask for assistance finding a specific person.
“A red notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and temporarily arrest an individual pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
“A red notice is not a warrant for an international arrest. The international tribunal or the requesting member nation wants the individuals. Member nations use their legal frameworks when determining whether to make an arrest.
“If the public has any information about the wanted individuals, they are encouraged to report it to their local police authorities,” the statement read.
