The family of the late Brigadier-General Benjamin Adesanya Maja Adekunle has announced plans for a series of memorial events to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his passing. Gen. The events are set to take place, primarily, in Ogbomoso, Oyo State—a city dear to Gen. Adekunle as a reflection of the deep respect he held for the city and its people during his lifetime.

The memorial tributes will begin on Saturday 14th September with the 10th Memorial Golf Kitty, scheduled to be held at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club.
This will be followed by a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, (10:00am) on September 15, 2024, at St. David’s Anglican Cathedral, also in Ogbomoso.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, a charitable initiative will see the empowerment of 50 widows, 50 school children, and other vulnerable individuals at the palace of His Imperial Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomoso.

The highlight of the memorial will be the inaugural Benjamin Adekunle Memorial Leadership Lecture, themed “The Ogbomosos, Military Gallantry and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 9:30 AM at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Auditorium. Esteemed speakers at the lecture will include Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani (Rtd), Dr. Olayinka Oyegbile, and Professor Omotoye Olorode.

The memorial events will conclude with a Novelty Football Match featuring Black Scorpion FC versus Valiant FC at Soun Stadium, set to kick off at 4:45 PM.
