Slovakia, a small country in Central Europe, is home to a tiny Muslim population of around 5,000 people. Despite this, Slovakia is the only country in the European Union without a single mosque.
Muslims in Slovakia face challenges in finding suitable places to worship and have to pray in private homes or rented spaces. The Muslim community has tried to build a mosque, but they have faced resistance and rejection.
Slovakia’s laws make it hard for new religions to gain recognition and funding, and the country also has a strong Christian tradition. The lack of a mosque in Slovakia highlights the challenges faced by Muslim communities in some parts of Europe and shows how important it is to respect and protect religious freedom.
