The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with social media users condemning the unlawful acts allegedly sponsored by the sitting EDHA Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.

Despite the attack, Akpata remained composed and refused to halt his campaign in the Ward. Addressing his supporters and the general public at the scene, he said:

“You know the Speaker of Edo State House Of Assembly is from this part of the state, so they are a bit agitated and worried because they are losing out, because they have nothing to show for 8 years in government. They think that what they normally do in politics is to intimidate, but I will not be intimidated. I am not going anywhere until I speak with our people. The people must hear from us, the people must make their choice.”
