JUST IN: Man, 30, Inflicts Injury On Neighbour With Cutlass For Peeping While Trying To Steal

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Majekodunmi Close, Ipaja area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect, Emeka went to steal from the apartment of one of their neighbours, Olarewaju Akinola, who is the neighbour to the victim, Godspower. And while he was trying to select which item to steal, the victim, Godspower, peeped from the window, saw him and came out to raise alarm to attracts other neighbours.

His action angered the suspect, Emeka, who brought out a cutlass and inflicted injury on his head for reportedly dabbling into what did not concern him by raising alarm that he was a thief. The victim was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ipaja Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

During interrogation, the Police discovered what happened; that Emeka went to steal from the victim’s neighbour and was caught by the victim who raised alarm.

The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged assault on Godspower and entering into Akinola’s dwelling house with intent to steal.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 28th June, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE
