Things could be about to get really interesting between Napoli and Chelsea as the Italian club look to sign Romelu Lukaku. It has been well-documented that some kind of swap deal could take place that would see Romelu Lukaku head to Napoli and Victor Osimhen move to Chelsea.....CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE

Speculation suggests Napoli want Lukaku and a nice fee before letting Osimhen join Chelsea, but it now looks like the Serie A club could ask for another player on top of the Belgian.

It remains to be seen how far the Blues are willing to go to sign Osimhen this summer. You suspect, though, that they will not throw everything at it.

Chelsea are likely to finish this transfer window with Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion, reducing the need for another centre-forward to be brought in.

If this Lukaku-Osimhen swap deal is to progress, it looks like Chelsea may have to offer another one of their players and a huge sum of money.

According to CaughtOffside, Napoli have asked for Trevoh Chalobah or Cesare Casadei to also be included in the deal.

The same outlet has claimed that Napoli want up to €90m (£77m) as well for Osimhen.

Both Chalobah and Casadei look to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, with neither player travelling to the United States for the club’s pre-season tour. Therefore, this proposed deal could make a lot of sense for Chelsea.

Napoli want Lukaku, while Chelsea have interest in Osimhen. Lukaku is on his knees for a move to Napoli, whereas Osimhen seems to want out of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

A straight swap deal makes a lot of sense, then. The problem is Osimhen’s value is much higher than Lukaku’s, with the Nigerian six years younger than the Belgium international and recently putting pen to paper on a contract containing a reported £110m release clause.

Unsurprisingly, Napoli want good money for Osimhen and not just Lukaku, which they could still get, as the transfer window remains open.
