A social media post from a user named Lagospedia called for the forced removal of Igbo people from the region, with the hashtag #IgboMustGo gaining traction online.

In a statement released on Thursday night, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, emphasized that the Igbo community will not passively accept such threats. He warned that any attack on the Igbo people anywhere in the country would result in severe retaliation.

Okwu’s statement, titled ‘Enough is Enough,’ underscored that the Igbo community has been patient for too long and is no longer willing to tolerate unjust attacks. He urged those spreading divisive rhetoric to cease, asserting that the Igbo are not second-class citizens in Nigeria.

“We want to make it clear that the Igbo are not cowards; our ancestors were brave, and we are too,” Okwu declared. “We advise those stirring discord not to mistake our calmness for weakness. We will not be intimidated by anonymous provocateurs.”

He warned that any aggression against the Igbo would be met with “unimaginable revenge” and reiterated that the Igbo community is integral to the nation and deserves respect.

Okwu criticized the recent reluctance of the Igbo to engage in protests, suggesting that such actions would be mischaracterized as an Igbo-only issue. Despite the challenges, he called on the Igbo community to remain resilient and not be deterred by threats.

He also reiterated calls for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, additional states for the South-East, and balanced appointments reflecting federal character principles.
