President Bola Tinubu has promoted Olufemi Oluyede, the acting Chief of Army Staff, to the rank of Lieutenant General in a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This promotion comes just days after Oluyede’s appointment as acting Chief of Army Staff, filling in for Taoreed Lagbaja who is currently indisposed.
Oluyede’s decorated military career spans over three decades, with notable positions such as Commander of the Infantry Corps and leadership roles in various operations, including Operation Hadin Kai in the North East and international missions like the ECOMOG Mission in Liberia.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu commended the military for their unwavering courage, dedication, and patriotism, emphasizing the importance of synergy among the armed forces ¹.
