Kwara United have officially announced the postponement of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 16 fixture against Enyimba.
The NPFL match, originally set for Saturday, December 8, has been rescheduled to a later date due to Enyimba’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Enyimba are slated to compete against the Egyptian club Zamalek in their second group stage match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on the same day.
The announcement was made by Kwara United via social media, stating, “The anticipated NPFL25 Matchday 16 clash between Kwara United FC and Enyimba Int’l FC, initially scheduled for Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Ilorin, has been postponed until further notice. This decision comes in light of Enyimba Int’l FC’s advancement to the second group stage of the CAF competition.”
Enugu Rangers Happy With Draw
Enugu Rangers assistant coach Ekenedilichukwu Eke expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance following a 0-0 draw against Enyimba in a competitive oriental derby at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.
Despite Enyimba’s dominance in possession, the Flying Antelopes displayed a solid defensive effort.
Eke remarked, “I think this is a fantastic result for us, getting a point after traveling from Enugu to Aba. It wasn’t an easy game at all. From start to finish, it was intense and highly competitive. I give credit to both teams, but especially to my players—they performed exceptionally well.”
Enyimba Faults Officiating In Draw Against Rangers
Enyimba technical adviser Olanrewaju Yemi voiced concerns regarding officiating in their goalless draw against Rangers.
Enyimba had a goal disallowed during their encounter with Rangers, which was disappointing given their control of the game.
Yemi stated, “We scored a goal, and it’s unfortunate that the referee had to cancel it. We look forward to improvements in the quality of officiating in the NPFL so that hard work and efforts can be appropriately rewarded.”
