Call it a carnival of feasting and merrymaking, and you are not wrong. It was a gathering of celebrities of different mixes from music, movie, soccer, nightclub entertainment, media icons, to politicians. They all shunned age, cultural and political differences to felicitate with a youth icon and the entire Adeleke family.
Among the wedding videos codenamed #chivido2024 which shut down the social media since the event held at the Eko Hotel, Lagos on Tuesday, 25 June was the one that featured our own Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in company with his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and Davido’s uncle and Osun State helmsman, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
We should not forget that Sanwo-Olu’s birthday coincided with the wedding. So, for the Lagos State No. 1 citizen, it was a double celebration rolled into one elaborate event. As a leader and lover of youths, Sanwo-Olu therefore, opted for a quiet birthday event viz a thanksgiving service and family get-together. Rather than being immersed in euphoric hosting of dignitaries and clinging champagne glasses, the governor made out time to fraternise with his colleague, Ademola Adeleke and his celebrity nephew.
It was literally a day fun-filled and a time for Sanwo-Olu to unwind. “All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy” says a popular adage. And as captured in the video, there was no dulling for the amiable governor. The Lagos governor was repledent in white agbada with aso oke cap to fit like Abiodun and Ademola Adeleke. Sanwo-Olu’s genial was fitted for the occasion. He beamed smiles as he exchanged banters with his host, Ademola Adeleke.
Trust the Osun helmsman and his readiness to show off dancing skills, not even one in which he was a father-figure. He let out few steps and dance movements as he drew out Sanwo-Olu to join him. Who says governors don’t catch cruise when occasions call for it. A vintage Lagos boy, the governor through hand demonstrations and gestures responded to his colleague’s challenge. With that Sanwo-Olu underscored the slogan, “Eko for show” was not a fluke after all.
That was the soft side of Sanwo-Olu, a governor who has not pretended about his penchant for youths and their potentials. Recall late last year, he added gender equality, social inclusion and youth to his THEMES agenda, making it THEMES plus. Following his inauguration for a second term on 29 May, last year, the Lagos governor reinforced his development agenda with the inclusion of segments of Lagosians who could have felt unattended to. “In other words, we are strengthening and reinforcing THEMES with a ‘No One should be Left Behind’ philosophy. No one will be left behind on account of their social status, gender or age; we will design all our policies and programs to ensure that everyone is carried along and catered to”, the governor said upon his inauguration for second term in office. Undoubtedly, he has lived by those promises and the testaments are there in the areas of youth empowerment via entrepreneurship and leadership training, sports development, arts and entertainment etc.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE
