Several bandits have reportedly been killed by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in a series of airstrikes conducted in the Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state.
Naija News reports that a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, made this known via its X handle.
The NAF missiles reportedly hit several locations, including a notorious bandit leader, Ado Aliero, and his associate, Dan Umaru.
Makama added that the strikes, which destroyed the terror leaders’ networks and their regional activities, were conducted by the air component of Operation Fasan Yamma.
The post read, “The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of Operation Fasan Yamma, has launched a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorist camps in Zamfara State.
“The airstrikes, executed with surgical precision, aimed to dismantle the operational networks of these terror leaders and disrupt their activities in the region. Reliable intelligence reports identified these sites as hubs for planning and launching attacks on communities, prompting swift military action.
“Eyewitnesses in the area reported intense aerial bombardments that destroyed key infrastructure within the camps, causing significant casualties among the terrorists.
“The operation is part of the Nigerian military’s renewed offensive against banditry and terrorism in the Northwest, following directives to intensify efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
“Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama the success of the operation, stating that the strikes effectively neutralized several high-value targets and disrupted the terrorists’ ability to regroup.
“We are currently seeing flames raging in the home of Dan Umaru. Dozens of them have been killed.”
