In a decisive move to protect public health, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has executed a significant operation targeting counterfeit and adulterated wines and spirits in Nasarawa State, resulting in the seizure of products valued at over ₦41.2 million.
The raid took place in wine shops across Mararaba Market, as well as the New Nyanya and Masaka areas. The initiative is part of NAFDAC’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of food and beverage products available to consumers.

The agency emphasized the risks associated with consuming fake alcoholic beverages, which can lead to serious health complications or even fatalities.
The NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement team is currently probing the sources of these counterfeit products, focusing on the importers and manufacturers involved in their distribution. The agency has called upon consumers to be vigilant and report any suspicious products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
As the agency continues its fight against the proliferation of fake alcohol, NAFDAC urges the public to remain educated on the dangers of counterfeit goods, reinforcing the importance of purchasing from reputable sources to avoid the risks associated with unsafe consumption.
