Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has expressed his determination to remain at the club until he achieves the legendary status that former Chelsea star Didier Drogba holds.
Nicolas Jackson, a 22-year-old Senegal international is currently in his second season at Stamford Bridge but he has not been able to establish himself as much as expected.
Jackson made the switch to Chelsea from Villarreal during the summer of 2023, with the move costing the club around £33 million.
Before his arrival, Bournemouth showed interest in signing the Senegalese fast-rising forward during the January transfer window of 2023, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
Since joining Chelsea, Jackson has made a notable impression, though he recognizes the considerable legacy left by Drogba, who is remembered as one of the greatest strikers in the club’s history.
In an interview with The Big Interview, Jackson reflected on the impressive scoring records of former Chelsea forwards, noting Drogba’s achievement of netting 10 goals in his inaugural Premier League season, followed by 12 in his second.
Jackson draws inspiration from Drogba’s persistence, revealing, “Drogba after the first season wanted to leave; even the players wanted him to leave, but he stayed and became a legend. I think I can do the same and succeed.”
