During a press conference marking his first year in office, Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, revealed that individuals holding these certificates, especially those in public and private sectors, will be dismissed.

This policy decision came after a recent Federal Executive Council meeting led by President Bola Tinubu.

Mamman emphasized, “We cannot allow individuals with counterfeit degrees to compete with our students who earn their degrees through hard work and dedication.

The FEC has approved a list identifying over 21,684 individuals with fake certificates from Benin Republic and 1,105 from Togo.”

The crackdown aims to maintain the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system, ensuring only recognized degrees from accredited institutions are valid.
